When we see the word candies, we think of sugar, sweet, or sour but in this case it is actually of a perfume. Of a perfume that seems to be selling its product through sexual images even though they might be offensive to woman or man. Sexual images are the number one way to obtain the audience attention. Most of the Candies ads have nothing to do with the fragrance of the perfume but yet are still being displayed.
This ad shows a man sitting at a desk with a computer. An attractive woman is sitting on top of the computer with her legs spread. The man has his hands to the keyboard like he is about to press a key. On the computer screen, there is an image of a rocket ship blasting off into the air. This rocket ship is on purpose lined up with the woman's vagina, so it looks like a penis about to enter her. All of the elements create a very sexualized image and message, but it seems to be more from a man's perspective because the man is in control as he looks at the viewer while pressing the keys on the keyboard. The woman is dressed to emphasize her body, which is very thin. Her shirt is low cut to almost show her breast, and also shows her belly. She wears short shorts and leather boots that emphasize her spread legs. She also has a lot of make-up on which is sexy to most man. The man wears a tank which shows his strong arms and also leather pants which are supposed to be sexy. The woman has her hand in front of her vagina, which seems to be forcing the rocket ship down, and her other hand holds the perfume bottle close to her face so it appears to be that she is having trouble resisting. The man however looks very confident in his decision and has a smirk on his face like he is doing something deviant, but fun. There is a spotlight that highlights the whole picture. Blues and black make up most of the picture except for the woman's shirt which is bright pink and calls attention to her and her body maybe this color also emphasizes her softness as a woman. The picture is framed so that her vagina and the rocket ship are in the center of the frame.
The ad obviously appeals to the need for sex, by displaying this image it is trying persuade the buyer to buy the product and obviously you too will have this experience. This ad also appeals to the need to achieve by using this perfume you will have attractive beautiful women as shown above. The ad does not only display’s sex and achievement but it is mainly aimed towards men which displays dominance. It does this by the man being in control as he is the one seated at the desk with his hand ready to push the keys, while the woman is shown in a very provocative position with her legs spread. The fact that she has her hand pushed down on the rocket suggests that a part of her is resisting, which lends to why the man has a smirk on his face, he is being naughty and this is all supposed to be sexy.
